Phoenix Rising: The Rebirth of the P-38
Built in 1943, the Lockheed P-38 LIGHTNING set new standards in military aviation and was hugely popular in the US Air force. In World War II, the fighter bomber was noted not only for its tri-fuselage construction, but also for its highly successful missions. More than 70 years later, there are only four airworthy P-38 still taking majestically to the skies - in 2009 the Flying Bull fleet and Hangar-7 will add one of these magnificent showpieces to their collection.
